Variety description (from 
Brooks and Olmo Register of Fruit and Nut Varieties):  An early-mid season scab-resistant perry pear with low acids and tannins. Grown in the south of Gloucester, England in the 1800s; propagated and distributed by Long Ashton Research Station, Bristol, England in the early 1900s. Small elliptical fruit. Skin green to yellow-green flushed with orange-red and covered with russet; lenticels inconspicuous. Ripens early October in England's West Midlands, late September in western Oregon; easily shaken from tree. Mature tree is medium to large, with compact growth, acute branch angles, distinct spurs, tends toward biennial bearing; precocious bearing; late flowering; fruit scab rare.

Site requirements: Full sun location. Pears will grow in a range of soil types provided the planting location is well drained. Soil pH of 6.5 is ideal.

Hardiness: USDA zones 5-9.

Plant size: Tree, 2-3' tall with strong central leader.
